Where is my game progress stored?
To protect your privacy, Spelling Hive stores 100% of your game progress locally on your device. We do not transmit or save your progress to external databases or servers. This means your streak, badges, and word lists are completely private.
Note: If you delete the app or clear its local storage, your game progress will be permanently reset. You can also manually trigger a complete reset in the app's settings.
Can I play Spelling Hive offline?
Yes! All dictionaries (English, Spanish, and Portuguese) and clue datasets are fully bundled inside the app's installation. You can play completely offline in airplane mode or remote areas without any internet connection.
How do I report a missing or incorrect word?
We curate all dictionaries by hand to filter out abbreviations, archaic forms, offensive terms, and invalid words. If you find a word that should be accepted (or one that is in the pool but has an incorrect definition), tap the flag icon next to the word definition to report it directly to us.
Why are some plurals or conjugations rejected?
To keep the puzzles challenging and satisfying, Spelling Hive follows strict vocabulary standards (similar to the New York Times Spelling Bee). For English, we filter out plural forms ending in "S" when the singular root word exists in the puzzle. Obscure words, hyphenated words, and abbreviations are also excluded.
How do daily reminders and notifications work?
If enabled, reminders are scheduled locally by your device OS. No external push servers are involved, and no personal notification tracking occurs. You can easily toggle daily reminders on or off inside the game settings sheet.
